Project 180sx Track&Drift
Alright finally i got a car here in Aussie is a Nissan 180sx. My plan for this car is i'm trying to turn it into a track and drift car. But now temporary focusing more too track and lap times
the front view(crack fiber at the front bumper)
rear view
some spares that came together with the car
stock intercooler
a spare front bumper
and a set of aftermarket tail lamps

D.I.Y changing the rear muffler. I must thank Kenny for helping me out on this
the stock muffler
jacking the car up... i believe the rear differential would make a good jacking point
Kenny helping me un-screwing the bolts
exhaust out
comparison between the stock and aftermarket exhaust
after market exhaust installed and time to remove the stands and lower the car back down
check for exhaust leakage done no leak what so ever, job's completed

ya next up i want to change an adjustable suspension, and 5 lugs knuckle(as in most jdm after market rims comes with 5lugs) and also the 4port brake caliper from the Skyline(of course an aftermarket 1 would be good but due to financial problem)

Re: Project 180sx Track&Drift
Problem of the car: The car is consuming too much fuel a full tank will only run for 220km+ -, and the exhaust is spitting out fuel like a flame thrower, engine is suffering starvation at around 100/110 km/h.
first thing up with the hood...
the car have a e-manage piggy inside
After removing the plug surprisingly the plug is showing that its very lean... freaking weird caused there are so much black smoke and even some oil spitting out from the exhaust we were expecting a very wet plug or rich....
we plug in a lambda or O2 sensor to the exhaust and read the reading...
Lambda: very close to 1 which is normal
PPM(parts per million): is around 300+ while idling still consider ok for the age of the car
HC(hydrocarbon): was also acceptable
we were figuring out the problem caused something must have when seriously wrong and caused the syndrome is there now to find the cure...
a lecturer join in the search for the cure
After like 1hr+ figuring and checking for leak hoses nothing.... since it was almost time to go back and today we are supposed to be studying on scan tools... the lec says we will figure out this 1st thing tomorrow morning....
the car has beaten us today, but we shall prevail
some local students coming by to help out with the situation and no one can come up with a conclusion caused its just weird
Top just love posing for us....

Re: Project 180sx Track&Drift
180sx saga continues.... 2nd Attempt
Yesterday we can't manage to figure out what actually happen to the car and we are hell not giving up.
First thing early this morning we got the car strap up onto the dyno to have a run
car onto the dyno time to tie it down so that it would not launch out of the dyno
hooked up the O2 or lambda sensor to the exhaust and of caused the exhaust gas extractor as well, so that we don't kill our self my breathing in too much co2
since the car is running a Trust piggy, we got the software from the owner and load it up onto a laptop and extra the date from the piggy too hopefully find out the fault
setting up the gas analyzer so that we can get proper reading from the exhaust
after setting up all the stuff is time to put the pedal to the metal and give it a blast at the dyno
the result we got from the gas analyzer :
the ppm seems ok to me for the age of the car, what i'm trying to do now is try to get the lambda to 1 or as close as possible which according to the reading is kinda of ok during idle but once u floor it its just off the scale it will just go freaking rich....
End Result Conclusion: we found out from the engine oil that is souk with fuel, meaning thats actually spraying too much fuel into the combustion chamber that fuel is actually leaking through the piston rings and into the crank case and so on....
we can't do much of a setting today as we found out the version of the e-manage dosen't suite the version of the software. We were able to extra data and get live data logging but unable to export the value that we chance back into the piggy.... anyhow we are( at least i know 5ppl aren't me, Han, Top, Richard(a lec) and Mirko(my home group teacher) is not backing down for sure.
I will work out the software problem over the weekend and hopefully it will work next week so we can give it a go again and hopefully solve the problem.
We also tried a very simple theory, since there is so much fuel mixture and so rich, 1way to lean it out we can introduce for boost. More boost=more air and more air would theorically lean out the mixture but some how after trying to go to 1.2bar of boost its still too rich for some reason and its just getting to risky so we back off....
I'm still personally not happy bout the result today I swear i'm gonna fix this problem or i can't get my mind off it at all.....
